COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The new president and CEO of Cooperstown–based Bassett Healthcare Network has started his new duties.
Dr. Tommy Ibrahim began his tenure on Monday.
Prior to assuming leadership of the Bassett network, Ibrahim served as executive VP and chief physician executive at Integris Health, the largest nonprofit health-care system in Oklahoma.
Over the next several months, Ibrahim will be visiting staff and facilities throughout the Bassett network as part of an early “listening and learning tour” he started in June.
Ibrahim, whose appointment was announced by the Bassett network’s board of directors in May, succeeds Dr. William Streck, who served as president and CEO from 1984 through 2014, and then returned on an interim basis in 2018.
Ibrahim earned his medical degree and his bachelor’s degree in medical science in England and completed his internal medicine residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, an academic affiliate of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He holds a master’s degree in health administration from Seton Hall University.
