SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A spokesperson for Best Buy says the retailer plans to close its store at Destiny USA on March 6.

The company cites “economic” reasons for its decision to close the location, per a Jan. 7 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice on the website of the New York State Department of Labor. The closure will affect 70 employees, per the WARN notice.

“The decision to close a store is never an easy one and we are grateful for our Syracuse area customers who have shopped with us over the years. Customers can continue to shop Best Buy at our DeWitt location which is 7 miles away,” Claire Larson, a Best Buy spokesperson, said in a statement forwarded to CNYBJ.
