BINGHAMTON — Binghamton Mayor Richard C. David announced two more appointments to his administrative team.
David named Jennie Skeadas Sherry as director of planning, housing and community development and Robert C. Murphy as director of economic development.
Skeadas Sherry most recently served as city planner for York, Pa., and brings more than 20 years of municipal experience to the city in community planning and development, according to the Binghamton mayor’s office. Skeadas Sherry received her bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida International University and has professional experience in Miami and Charleston, S.C., among other cities.
The director of planning, housing and community development position pays $56,358 annually. Skeadas Sherry will start work next Monday.
Murphy will head Binghamton’s economic development department after a long career as an attorney and public servant, according to the Binghamton mayor’s office. Murphy currently operates his own law practice, specializing in business and municipal law. He served as Binghamton City Court Judge from 2002-2008 and as the city’s corporation counsel from 1994-1998. Murphy is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Law School and the University of Notre Dame.
The director of economic development position pays $58,535 annually. Murphy will start work Thursday.
