BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Binghamton Rumble Ponies have formally postponed all home games before May 10 as the coronavirus crisis continues.
The Rumble Ponies said they made the decision in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball (MLB).
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets.
The MLB on March 12 shut down all spring training camps and pushed back its season start, and Minor League Baseball (MiLB) on the same day announced it would no longer start its season on April 9.
The Rumble Ponies say they will continue to work with state, county, and local officials, along with health experts to monitor the situation. It will update fans through its social-media channels and its website when the team can play games at NYSEG Stadium.
Any ticket purchased for a game before May 10 will be treated as a rain check and will be redeemable for any 2020 regular season home game (excluding July 4th).
Tickets will be exchangeable once the box office opens back up.
