On Feb. 27, the Binghamton University School of Management, in partnership with area experts, is offering an all-day seminar on transition planning for closely held businesses. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Binghamton University Downtown Center at 67 Washington St. in Binghamton.
The seminar will address topics such as the need to plan, an overview of succession and exit-planning options, leadership development, accounting and tax issues, buy-sell agreements and business valuations, a business sale to a third party, and strategies for wealth management, life insurance, and estate planning.
Organizers say the sessions will include case analyses and are primarily targeted to owners of privately held business with more than $1 million in annual revenue.
Scheduled seminar speakers include Travis Maus, senior partner at the S.E.E.D. Planning Group in Vestal; Cliff Olin, principal at Olin Capital Advisors, Inc. in Afton; Dr. Shelley Dionne, associate director of the Binghamton University School of Management; Jim Daniels, managing partner at Binghamton–based CPA firm Davidson Fox & Co.; and Tom Meade, former owner of Sunstream Corp. in Binghamton.
