Binghamton University SUNY BEST event Thursday to focus on energy storage

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Binghamton University SUNY Business and Education Cooperative of the Southern Tier (SUNY BEST) on Thursday will host an event focusing on energy storage.

It’s scheduled for 10 a.m. in Room 220 at the Binghamton University Downtown Center at 67 Washington St. in Binghamton, the university said in a news release. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The session features an interactive panel discussing today’s batteries versus the batteries of the future; the role of Binghamton University’s Smart Energy Research and Development Facility in future research and development; NYSERDA’s focus in promoting new technology and future funding opportunities; the importance of NY BEST and their projects; and a “practical look” at how today’s leading industries utilize energy storage.

Chicago, Illinois–based Navigant Consulting Inc. (NYSE: NCI) forecasts that stationary-energy storage will grow to a $9 billion business by 2025 and will “play a vital role in the future of our economy,” according to the release.

Organizers will serve refreshments at 9:30 a.m. ahead of the presentation that begins at 10 a.m., the school said.
