BLI class of 2013 graduates 19 businesspeople Thursday

ENDWELL — Nineteen Binghamton–area businesspeople will graduate as the Broome Leadership Institute (BLI) class of 2013 in a ceremony in Endwell on Thursday, according to a news release from the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program (GBEOP).

The BLI, founded in 1988, is a six-month community leadership program sponsored by the GBEOP, an affiliate organization of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce. The program has more than 500 graduates, according to the chamber’s website.

The BLI is designed to develop “enthusiastic and well-informed leaders who are committed to making positive contributions to the community,” the release said.

Each class accepts 20 members working in fields ranging from business to government and nonprofit organizations. The 19 people who will graduate this year are:

A graduation ceremony will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on March 21 at the Binghamton Country Club, at 1401 Robinson Hill Rd., Endwell.
The BLI leadership program runs from September through March, with two full-day sessions each month. Topics that the sessions cover include board development, business and industry, community insight and current issues, courts and the penal system, cultural diversity, health care, human and social services, and media and communications, among others.
Tuition for the program is $1,250 for Greater Binghamton Chamber members and $1,500 for non-members, according to the chamber’s website.
