SYRACUSE — The musical group Blues Traveler — known for its 1995, Grammy award-winning song, “Run-Around” — will headline and cap off the entertainment at the Taste of Syracuse event held June 6-7 in downtown Syracuse.
Galaxy Events, a unit of Galaxy Communications, LLC at 235 Walton St. in Syracuse, today announced details and the entertainment lineup during a morning press event at the AmeriCU Credit Union location at 200 Walton St.
AmericCU Credit Union is the event’s naming sponsor, and Tops Markets is the presenting sponsor.
The event focuses on local restaurants and music, Carrie Wojtaszek, event sales manager for Galaxy Events, said during her remarks at the morning press event.
“It’s a taste of our culture, of our music, and also of our food,” Wojtaszek said.
Blues Traveler will take the main stage at 9 p.m. on June 7. Carolyn Wonderland, a nationally-known blues artist, will open for Blues Traveler, according to a Galaxy Events news release.
The Taste of Syracuse event will include entertainment from more than 40 bands on three stages on both Friday and Saturday, Wojtaszek said.
Local restaurants will have three or four menu items for sampling, including one item that’s available for $1.
“So you can have $20 and taste samples from 20 different restaurants,” Wojtaszek said.
AmeriCU supports Taste of Syracuse because of the “economic activity it generates” for the city, Judith Cowden, vice president of member relations and marketing at AmeriCU, said in her remarks.
“We have about 175,000 people who come down every year to Taste of Syracuse and they generate well over $2 million in economic activity,” Cowden said.
