UTICA, N.Y. — The companion walk to the Boilermaker 15K Road Race has a new sponsor and a new name.

The event — set for Saturday, July 8 at noon — is now known as the Boilermaker Walk with Slocum-Dickson Medical Group as the new presenting sponsor.

“We are pleased to partner with Slocum-Dickson Medical Group as part of the walk,” Boilermaker President Mark Donovan said in a press release. “We recognize that not everyone may be physically ready or able to participate in either of our road races, and this event allows virtually everyone the opportunity to be part of the Boilermaker experience. The walks present a great way for all to get out, get moving, and continue their wellness journey.”

The walk returned last year as part of the Boilermaker’s weekend slate of events, with more than 300 people participating after a four-year absence. Walkers have the option of a three-mile or four-mile course which begins and ends at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) in Utica.

“We are excited to sponsor and participate in this year’s Boilermaker Walk,” Slocum-Dickson President Dr. Alexander D. Harris said. “The walk allows Slocum-Dickson to continue its commitment to providing patient-centered quality care by allowing the community to attain the physical and mental health benefits of walking.”

The Boilermaker Road Race is in its 46th year, with the 15K — set for Sunday, July 9 at 8 a.m. — serving as the premier event of the weekend. The Boilermaker schedule also includes a wheelchair race, a 5K race, a kid’s run, and a wellness expo.
