Bond, Schoeneck & King to combine with Buffalo law firm

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC — Central New York’s largest law firm, ranked by number of area attorneys — announced it will be combining with Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP of Buffalo, effective Jan. 1.

The combined firm will use the Bond, Schoeneck & King name and a have a 51-lawyer office in Buffalo, likely making it the fourth largest law firm in Western New York, Bond said in a news release.

Buffalo would also become the second largest office for Bond, after its Syracuse headquarters. The firm has nine locations in New York state and 11 overall. It will have 265 attorneys total, following the link up. It has 230 now.

Bond, Schoeneck & King and Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel engaged in several months of discussions, “spurred by compatible strategic objectives” to widen the scope of their practice areas to more industries, according to the release.

 “With Bond having been in Buffalo for nearly 20 years, we are truly excited about participating in the region’s resurgence and fulfilling our strategic objective of developing a full service office in Western New York by combining with such a highly regarded, talented and venerable firm …,” Richard Hole, chairman of Bond’s management committee, said in the release.

Joseph Kubarek, managing partner of Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, said the law firms “complement each other in labor and employment law, litigation, and employee benefits” and by combining, boost Bond’s capabilities in these practice areas in Buffalo and across the state. “Moreover, Bond’s considerable experience and deep teams in healthcare, higher education, intellectual property, public finance and corporate restructuring will be major assets to our hospitality and tourism, advanced manufacturing, municipal, healthcare, and higher education clients,” Kubarek added.

Bond’s Buffalo office will be located in Jaeckle’s office space in the Avant building — a mixed-use tower that spans one city block and includes offices, a hotel, and condos. Bond’s Buffalo location is currently at Fountain Plaza.
