Bosch Healthcare closing Utica branch, cutting 19 jobs

UTICA, N.Y. — Robert Bosch Healthcare Systems, Inc., a California–based telehealth provider, is closing its Utica office, located at 2118 Beechgrove Place, eliminating 19 jobs between late August and early September.

The information comes from a notice on the New York State Department of Labor website. It does not specify when the branch will be shut down or give exact dates for when the cuts will occur.

The notice previously stated that 23 jobs would be cut as a result of the closing, but J. William Zehel, the company’s human resources director, says a couple employees will stay on to work remotely.

The North American division of Bosch Healthcare Systems is being closed, which is comprised of about 150 employees, according to Zehel. He told BJNN the health-care field “isn’t our niche market,” when asked why the division is being closed. He was unable to immediately provide additional information, because he says he was about to board a flight.

Bosch Healthcare systems is a subsidiary of The Bosch Group, a German company, whose product focus is primarily technology–based. It is divided into four primary business sectors, according to its website: mobility solutions, industrial technology, consumer goods, and energy and building technology.

The Bosch Group is comprised of Robert Bosch GmbH and its nearly 450 subsidiaries and regional companies located in about 60 countries, according to its corporate website. It employs about 360,000 people worldwide.
