Boy Scouts name new executive for Oneida and Herkimer counties

UTICA, N.Y. — Leatherstocking Council, BSA, has promoted Rebekah A. Dickerson to district executive for the Adirondack Foothills District, where she supports Cub packs and Boy Scout troops in Oneida and Herkimer counties.

“For the past year, I have had the pleasure of working with Ms. Dickerson in her role as associate district executive where her sole focus has been on Cub Scout recruitment,” Matthew Dziedzic, board president, said in a press release. “The volunteers have all told me how much they enjoy working with Ms. Dickerson and how effective she is at support their packs, especially outreach to new members. This year, the Leatherstocking Council enjoyed overall membership growth for the first time in a few years, and I’m happy to recognize Ms. Dickerson’s success with this promotion.”

Dickerson joined the organization in September 2021. She received her master’s degree in social-studies education for grades 7-12 from Syracuse University and worked as a substitute teacher for the Syracuse City School District prior to joining the Leatherstocking Council, BSA.

As part of her new role, Dickerson supports packs and troops across the council’s territory as they sell Boy Scout popcorn to fund programs and activities. Year-to-date sales for the council are already up 14 percent.

The Leatherstocking Council serves about 3,000 scouting families in Delaware, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Otsego, and Schoharie counties.
