BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Broome County Executive Jason Garnar on Thursdsay announced that he has signed a declaration of a public emergency “due to major safety concerns” with the structures on the property at 80 Frederick St. in Binghamton.

The building is “dangerous” and in need of “immediate demolition and removal,” Garnar’s office said in a news release.

The properties included in the public emergency are as follows: the building at 80 Frederick St., 39, 41 and 43 Montgomery St., and 52 and 60 Whitney Ave.

Reports have been issued by the Broome County Office of Emergency Services, Broome County Risk and Insurance, and the City of Binghamton deeming the structures at 80 Frederick St. “unsafe and a threat to public safety.”

“A Public Emergency affecting public building, public property, or the life, health, safety or property of the inhabitants of Broome County is hereby declared in connection with the … facility,” the news said.
