BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Broome County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) wants to let businesses know it’s a “dynamic, approachable driver of economic development in Broome County.”
To assist with that mission, it has rebranded as The Agency.
The organization said it changed its moniker to “educate the business community of the wide array of services that The Agency can provide to existing and prospective businesses,” according to a news release it issued Wednesday.
“Our goal with this campaign is to make sure that all business, especially local business, know that they can come to us for whatever their needs are, even if they just have questions about trying to grow their company,” Kevin McLaughlin, executive director of The Agency, said in the release. “Our economy is going to be stronger by growing our existing business base and we plan to be a positive and proactive voice for economic opportunity in Broome County.”
The Agency is using the subhead of Broome County IDA / LDC to go with its new name.
The Agency’s board of directors oversees both the IDA, or the Industrial Development Agency, and the LDC, or the Broome County Local Development Corporation.
The IDA is a New York chartered, public-benefit corporation which offers services that include needs assessment, site selection, financial incentives, and access to other public-sector programs.
The Broome County Legislature formed the nonprofit LDC in 2010, according to The Agency’s new website.
The LDC works to “promote and conduct economic-development activities for the county,” the website says.
Hue, a creative agency based in downtown Binghamton, developed the brand strategy, The Agency said.
The IDA selected Hue last November, asking it to develop a “comprehensive branding and marketing strategy related to the objectives within the organization’s strategic action plan,” according to its news release.
It launched the rebrand at its 2nd annual Community Breakfast held Wednesday morning at Traditions at the Glen Resort & Conference Center in the town of Union.
The event highlights economic-development activity in Broome County, The Agency said.
The Agency also rolled out a new Twitter page and You Tube video for its rebranding launch, prominently featuring the slogan “Thrive Now.”
