BINGHAMTON, N.Y. —The Broome Leadership Institute (BLI) celebrated the 20 members of its class of 2024 on Thursday March 28 with a dinner and ceremony held at The Riverdale Banquet Hall in Endwell.
This year’s class is the 37th edition of area professionals to successfully complete the program. The Class of 2024 graduates are: Amiera Afify, Care Compass Network; Brooke Albanese, IBM; Tyler Beckley, The Children’s Home; Wendi Bigelow, Mirabito Energy Products; Jennifer Craig, Raymond Corporation; Sarah Difabio, UHS; Ashley Fox, M&T Bank; Clay Himmelberger, Core America; Mina Hoblitz, Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce; Sean Kalsky, Tech MD; Lindsey Johnson, LGT; Zaire McCarroll, Coughlin & Gerhart; Devin McMicken, Visions FCU; Richard Miller, HH&K; Sean Reardon, ECK Plastics; Benjamin Robinson; Lourdes Hospital; April Rowlands, United Way of Broome County; Jay Smith, UHS; Lucy Spena, Visions FCU; Rebecca Stone, Broome Tioga BOCES; and Matthew Winston, Binghamton University.
BLI is a six-month community leadership program administered by the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program (GBEOP), the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce’s education nonprofit affiliate.
The program is designed to develop enthusiastic and well-informed leaders who are committed to making positive contributions to the community. Each class runs from September through March with two full-day sessions each month. Sessions are held at relevant area locations with key players in that industry or topic area presenting to the class. Topics covered include agriculture, arts, board development, community insight, current issues, courts and the penal system, diversity, education, economic and business development, ethics, government, innovation, leadership, health care, human and social services, and media.
Participants leave the program with a deeper understanding of the region including the variety of industries in Broome County, the opportunities and challenges of the region, and how local leaders can drive positive change.
