Bryant & Stratton College names new Syracuse campus director

Mary Hawkins

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Bryant & Stratton College has hired Mary Hawkins as the new director of its Syracuse campus at 953 James St. in the city.

Hawkins succeeds Mike Sattler, who retired in 2020, a school spokesperson tells CNYBJ in an email. In her role, Hawkins reports to Susan Cumoletti, director of Syracuse colleges.

Both the James Street location and the campus at 7805 Oswego Road in the town of Clay make up Bryant & Stratton’s Syracuse market, the spokesperson noted.

Hawkins brings to the position experience in academic and campus-leadership roles, having most recently served as executive director of academic operations for the Arizona College of Nursing in Dallas, Texas.

Prior to joining Bryant & Stratton College, Hawkins worked for 11 years at Adtalem Global Education Group (formerly DeVry University), where she held several leadership roles. They included director of campus operations, dean of campus operations, and dean of academic affairs.

She has held previous roles with Mid-State College as director of enrollment services and at the University of Southern Maine as director of human resources, Bryant & Stratton said.

Hawkins holds a master’s degree in project management from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School, and a master’s degree in adult education from the University of Southern Maine.

“I’m honored to return to my home state of New York as the campus director for Bryant & Stratton College in Syracuse,” Hawkins said in the school’s news release. “My mission is to raise awareness of our how we serve the community as a non-profit partner in higher education and career readiness. I’m as excited to contribute to local workforce development efforts as I am to cheer on our championship sports teams.”

Bryant & Stratton says Hawkins has a “proven track record of success” in areas such as retention, enrollment, referral models, and program accreditation, including nursing. She has also mentored and trained new campus-operations directors.

Bryant & Stratton College says it has campuses in New York, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin, along with an online-education division and a continuing-education department.
