Businesses across upstate New York are receiving new allocations of low-cost power through the ReCharge New York program.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the second round of power allocations under the program today. An additional 161 businesses and nonprofit groups across the state received 80 megawatts of power.
The allocations will help retain 25,000 jobs, according to the state.

Twelve Central New York enterprises, including Byrne Dairy in Syracuse, G&L Davis Meat in North Syracuse, and Midstate Spring in Syracuse, received 5 megawatts in the second round. In the Mohawk Valley, 17 groups received 6 megawatts. Key Mohawk Valley recipients include Burt Rigid Box in Oneonta, Harden Furniture in McConnellsville, and Taylor Made Group in Gloversville, according to the state.
Fifteen enterprises in the Finger Lakes received 6 megawatts with key recipients including Celmet in Rochester, Morton Salt in Silver Springs, and Optimax Systems in Ontario. In the Southern Tier, 13 groups received 14 megawatts. Key recipients include HP Hood in Arkport, Kraft Foods Global in Walton, and MeadWestvaco in Sidney.
In the North Country, six enterprises received 3 megawatts with key recipients including HP Hood in LaFargeville and Jain Irrigation in Watertown.
“Through the NY Works program, we now have a cohesive strategy to leverage resources such as available, low-cost power, allowing businesses to create jobs and make investments in all regions of the state,” Cuomo said in a news release. “These power allocations through the ReCharge New York program will provide competitive and reliable energy prices to manufacturers and other key employers, giving them the confidence to invest in their facilities and maintain and increase employment.
“We will continue our aggressive efforts to capitalize on our low-cost power and other economic incentives to attract new businesses to New York and encourage expansion and growth in our state’s existing enterprises.”
