Carthage Area Hospital names Dodard director of OBGYN services at Women’s Way to Wellness

CARTHAGE, N.Y. — Carthage Area Hospital announced it has added Dr. Walter Dodard, a board-certified OBGYN, to its medical staff.

Dodard joins as the new director of OBGYN services at Women’s Way to Wellness, located at 117 N. Mechanic St. in Carthage, the hospital said in a news release. He will also continue to provide care to patients at his private practice at Comprehensive Women’s Health Services in Watertown.

Dodard specializes in robotic advanced surgeries and has completed extensive work in reconstructive pelvic surgeries. In addition, he is also certified in providing “all-natural hormonal balance to both men and women,” the release stated.

Dodard has been providing OBGYN care to the North Country for more than 15 years. He completed his medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, in 1998. In 2003, Dodard finished his obstetrics and gynecology residency training at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. He completed a Galloway fellowship in GYN Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, in 2002 and also underwent intense training in infertility and high-risk pregnancies.

Women’s Way to Wellness says it offers comprehensive OBGYN services, as well as a prenatal-care assistance program for uninsured pregnant mothers.
