Casual apparel retailer Buckle to open store at Destiny USA next spring

SYRACUSE — Destiny USA announced today that The Buckle, Inc. a retailer in casual apparel, footwear, and accessories, plans to open a nearly 4,900-square-foot store on the first level of the mall in the spring of 2013.

Buckle describes itself as a “retailer of medium to better–priced casual apparel, footwear and accessories for fashion-conscious young men and women.” The company (NYSE: BKE), founded in 1948, operates more than 440 stores in 41 states, under the names Buckle and The Buckle.

The retailer is best known for selling jeans, including its own BKE brand. Its stores even offer shoppers a “Buckle denim specialist” they can schedule an appointment with to find the right jeans and pair them with outfits.

The Buckle location in Destiny USA will be the company’s fourth store in New York state. It currently has stores in malls in the Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo areas.

Buckle reported net sales of $284.1 million in the third quarter ending Oct. 27, up almost 4 percent from the year-ago period.
