Cavanaugh named executive director at Catholic Charities

UTICA — Denise Cavanaugh is the new executive director of Catholic Charities of Oneida & Madison Counties, where she will oversee the agency’s $8 million budget and more than 200 employees and volunteers.

She succeeds former executive director Kathleen Eichenlaub, who passed away on June 18.

Most recently, Cavanaugh served for three years as the business development director at The House of the Good Shepherd in Utica. Prior to that, she was executive director of the YWCA of the Mohawk Valley in Utica.

Her professional affiliations include board positions with Excellus Blue Cross-Blue Shield, United Way of Greater Utica, Student & Business Alliance at BOCES, and the North East Region of YWCA.

Cavanaugh holds a bachelor’s degree in management/economics from Russell Sage College in Troy and a master’s degree from the State University of New York Oneonta.

The local Catholic Charities network services include community assistance, counseling, adoption, residences for special-needs populations, mental-health services, and substance-abuse services.
