Cayuga Health clinic opens at Kinney Drugs in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. — Ithaca–based Cayuga Health (CH) and Kinney Drugs on Thursday announced the opening of the Cayuga walk-in clinic at the Kinney Drugs store at 3666 Route 281 in Cortlandville.

Nurse practitioners and physician assistants from Cayuga Health will staff the clinic at Kinney Drugs. They’re trained and licensed to treat common conditions, such as colds, flu, fevers, coughs, congestion, sore throat and strep, rashes, or skin irritations.

Kinney Drugs’ services such as free prescription delivery, automatic prescription refills, and immunizations are also part of the offerings to all Cayuga clinic patients.

No appointments are necessary, and the clinic accepts most insurance, per the release.

“Developing a clinical relationship with a health-care team like Cayuga Health, is an important step forward in improving access to quality health care,” Rebecca Bubel, senior director of store operations for Kinney Drugs, said in the Cayuga Health release. “Together, our pharmacists and the Cayuga walk-in clinic staff are advancing community pharmacy by providing an environment for coordinated health care, and helping more people improve their health and wellness.”

Cayuga Health has two hospitals, Cayuga Medical Center and Schuyler Hospital, along with Cayuga Medical Associates, a multi-specialty group. It has combined employment, including affiliated organizations, of more than 2,200 employees.

Cayuga Health is clinically linked to Mayo Medical Laboratories; Rochester Regional Health for cardiac services; the University of Rochester for neurosciences; and Roswell Park in Buffalo for cancer services; It has also teamed up with Homer–based Family Health Network to “enhance care in the region.”

Founded in Gouverneur in 1903, Kinney Drugs is an independent, employee-owned company that operates 98 stores in New York and Vermont. Kinney Drugs is part of the KPH Healthcare Services family of companies, which provide pharmaceutical and health-care services.
