ITHACA, N.Y. — Cayuga Health has dropped mandatory masking requirements for patients and visitors effective May 11, due to reduced COVID transmission rates.

Self-screening remains in place at all entrances with questions regarding symptoms, diagnosis, or contact with someone known to be infected with COVID in the past 10 days.

Cayuga Health employees will continue to wear N95 masks plus eye protection when caring for patients suspected or known to be COVID positive.

Cayuga Health continues to monitor COVID community and transmission rates and will adjust the policy if cases increase.

Cayuga Health joins other regional health systems in Central New York that have also dropped masking requirements in recent weeks, including Mohawk Valley Health System and Bassett Healthcare Network.
