ALBANY, N.Y. — The Upstate Venture Capital Association of New York (UVANY) has appointed Jennifer Tegan, partner at the Cayuga Venture Fund of Ithaca, as its next president.

UVANY, based in Albany, is a statewide organization that seeks to advance venture capital and private-equity investments throughout New York state.

Tegan, the first woman to serve as UVANY president, succeeds Brian Model, managing partner at Stonehenge Growth Equity Partners in New York City, who rotated off the position after two successful years as president, UVANY said in a news release.

Model will continue to serve on UVANY’s executive committee.

Tegan, who is also vice president of finance and administration at the Cayuga Venture Fund (CVF), has been with CVF since 2002. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology from Smith College and the University of Cincinnati, respectively, and an MBA from Cornell University, according to her bio on the CVF website.

In addition to her work with UVANY, Tegan is also a member of the steering committee of UNY 50, an organization that seeks to promote the creation of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in upstate New York.
