CAZENOVIA, N.Y. — Cazenovia College has appointed William G. Veit, of Syracuse, as VP for administration and chief financial officer.

Veit, a longtime area business executive and financial-services director, succeeds Mark Edwards in the role. Edwards retired from Cazenovia College at the end of December.

Prior to joining the college, Veit was a senior risk-management consultant at FoxPointe Solutions, a division of The Bonadio Group of Syracuse, where he worked from 2019-2021. The Bonadio Group served as the college’s audit firm during that time.

Veit also served as SUNY Cortland’s risk-management officer and director from 2015-2019, where he directed the college’s internal controls and enterprise risk-management program, developed the college’s first risk-management plan, led the enterprise-risk management internship program, and chaired the college’s risk-management steering committee. Additionally, Veit developed a course syllabus on enterprise-risk management and insurance and served as a guest speaker for several strategic management senior-level courses.

From 2011-2014, Veit was CEO and president of Badoud Enterprises, Inc., in Syracuse, where he was charged with improving cash flow and business operations during periods of change and downturns in the print-media business and rise in internet-based and social-media-publishing industries. He previously served Badoud as chief financial officer from 1992-2011 and for several years before that as controller, machine-tool division controller, and internal auditor. Veit also worked at KPMG International in Syracuse as a staff accountant.

Veit, who was honored by The Central New York Business Journal in 2009 with a Chief Financial Officer of the Year award, received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from Le Moyne College. He has Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and FEMA ICS 100 certifications.
