Cazenovia College selects trustee, business owner Wells as commencement speaker

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. — A Cazenovia College trustee and a founder of a Salina–based company will deliver the graduation address for the school’s 192nd commencement ceremony on May 13, the college announced.

Steven Wells is a founding partner of American Food and Vending Corp., which operates at 124 Metropolitan Park Drive, off Henry Clay Boulevard, in the town of Salina.

Wells launched American Food and Vending in 1991 with his brother, Marty, and his cousin, Josh.

The company has “grown to be one of the largest” privately held, on-site culinary and refreshment-service providers in the U.S., per a Cazenovia College news release.

American Food and Vending operates in 35 cities across 15 states with more than 1,500 employees serving “tens of thousands of guests every day.”

Prior to founding American Food and Vending, Wells worked at the Houston, Texas–based law firm Fulbright & Jaworski. He then served as an assistant district attorney in Fort Worth, Texas. Wells was lead prosecutor in more than 50 cases, including cases involving capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, rape and robbery charges, the school said.

Wells earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and his law degree from Vanderbilt Law School.
