CCC renews partnership with Excelsior College

AUBURN — Cayuga Community College has renewed its partnership agreement with Excelsior College, which allows Cayuga students to transfer credits to Excelsior easily.

The agreement creates a path for Cayuga students to a four-year degree in several programs related to business and technology, according to the school. It provides for reduced tuition at Excelsior and streamlined procedures to transfer credits from Cayuga.

Excelsior has had an articulation agreement with Cayuga Community College since 1990. It is one of three schools in partnership with Cayuga that offer advanced degrees to students on the college campuses in Auburn and Fulton and online through the University Center.

The agreements allow students to continue their education while remaining in their home communities, according to Cayuga.

“This agreement with Excelsior allows students to take the majority of their upper division courses at either of the Cayuga campuses, or through our online program of study,” Michael Greene, coordinator of baccalaureate programs at Cayuga’s University Center, said in a news release. “They can start here, stay here, and succeed here.”

Excelsior is based in Albany.

“Excelsior’s mission involves removing obstacles that may prevent working adults from continuing their education, and this is an opportunity for students to combine online learning with independent study and examinations to achieve their goals,” Excelsior Provost Mary Beth Hanner said of the partnership with Cayuga.
