CenterState CEO hires Lawler as VP of finance

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — CenterState CEO, the region’s primary economic-development organization and chamber of commerce, announced it has recently appointed Amy Lawler as its VP of finance.

In this role, Lawler oversees CenterState CEO’s accounting, procurement, and insurance functions, and will develop and implement a financial strategy to support its operating plans. She is also responsible for reporting on financial results, and will ensure the ongoing development and monitoring of financial-control systems, according to a CenterState CEO news release.

Lawler most recently served as chief financial officer at DeWitt–based Environmental Remediation Services, Inc. She also previously worked for Peterson Geotechnical Construction LLC, Crouse Hospital, and C&S Companies, Inc. in Central New York.

“We are excited to welcome Amy as a member of our management team and believe she has the right combination of experience and knowledge to serve this organization and our members well,” said Robert Simpson, president of CenterState CEO. “Already Amy has proven to be an outgoing and engaged member of our staff and we look forward to introducing her to our board and members in the coming months.”

Lawler started her new position at CenterState CEO at the end of October, according to Elle Hanna, director of communications and media relations. Lawler had been consulting with the organization for a few weeks before coming aboard fulltime. She is filling the position, which was previously held on a contract basis by Bernie Corbishley, adds Hanna.

Lawler earned her MBA from Le Moyne College and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Nazareth College, near Rochester. She serves as the board treasurer for Leadership Greater Syracuse.
