The New York State Senate has confirmed the nomination of Robert Simpson to serve on the Empire State Development board of directors.
Simpson is president and CEO of CenterStateCEO in Syracuse. He was among several transportation and economic development-related administration nominee approvals that the office of Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday.
Simpson’s first meeting with the ESD board is scheduled for June 23, an ESD spokesperson tells CNYBJ in an email.
CenterStateCEO is an independent, economic business-development strategy, and chamber of commerce. As CEO, Simpson provides his expertise to local companies and organizations looking to expand their business, per Hochul’s announcement.
Simpson also serves as executive director at the Central Upstate Regional Alliance and president of the Tech Garden, Syracuse’s business incubator.
Simpson has a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and a master’s degree from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
