WATERTOWN, N.Y. — The Children’s Home of Jefferson County (CHJC) has chosen its next executive director.
Marianne DiMatteo will begin her duties on Feb. 1, 2022, according to an announcement from E. Hartley Bonisteel Schweitzer, president of the CHJC board of directors.
DiMatteo will succeed Karen Richmond, who is retiring after nearly 40 years of service, per the organization’s news release.
The incoming director is currently serving as president and CEO of Grant-Blackford Mental Health in Marion, Indiana. DiMatteo has more than 20 years of experience working in human services, CHJC said.
The nonprofit Grant-Blackford Mental Health Inc. has 200 employees and 19 facilities, serving two counties and about 2,000 consumers with outpatient behavioral-health services. That includes mental health and substance-use disorder treatment, assertive community treatment, and a 16-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital.
DiMatteo previously served as the COO at Familylinks, Inc. in Pittsburgh, a human-services agency serving more than 11,000 citizens each year. She also worked at two other Pennsylvania child and family-welfare agencies including the Community Guidance Center in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
The Children’s Home of Jefferson County says it offers more than 20 human-services programs that annually serve nearly 3,000 youth and adults.
