CICERO, N.Y. — New York State Police on Monday announced they have arrested Ryan R. Houghtalen, age 25, from Cicero, for 2nd degree criminal impersonation of a public servant, a class A misdemeanor.

Houghtalen was charged with claiming to be associated with the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) in order to “defraud” a female victim, according to a news release from the State Police.

Houghtalen is accused of using his military ID and claimed he was being hunted by ISIS to impress the female victim, whom he met through a local church. He told the victim that his life may be in danger, according to Jack Keller, public information officer with the State Police.
