SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Citizens Bank announced it has named J. Theodore Smith as president of its upstate New York region.
Smith, a graduate of Le Moyne College, joined Citizens in 2017 as market executive. He has more than two decades of experience working with corporate clients throughout the region. Smith joined Citizens following a 23-year career at M&T Bank (NYSE: MTB), Citizens Bank said.
Besides his degree from Le Moyne College, Smith also has an MBA degree from the University of Rochester’s William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration.
Citizens Bank’s parent company, Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: CFG), describes itself as “one of the nation’s oldest and largest” financial institutions, with $164.4 billion in assets as of Sept. 30, 2019.
Headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, Citizens offers retail and commercial-banking products and services to individuals, small businesses, middle-market companies, large corporations, and institutions.
