City of Syracuse: Public parking lot to change as SU prepares for veterans complex

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The City of Syracuse will have a new public parking lot in the Syracuse University area beginning Jan. 2.

The new lot is located along East Adams Street between the KeyBank branch office and University College, the City of Syracuse said in a news release issued Tuesday.

It’s replacing the parking lot at the corner of South Crouse Avenue and Marshall Street, which the city closed in late August to accommodate the upcoming construction of the National Veterans Resource Complex.

The City of Syracuse and Syracuse University on Aug. 25 announced they would close the lot to accommodate the demolition work on the Hoople Special Education Building at 805 South Crouse Avenue., which continued Thursday.

Syracuse University, which currently owns the East Adams Street lot, will lease it to the City of Syracuse, which will fit the lot with parking pay stations.

Parking will be available at city rates Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it will observe city meter holidays.
