SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The City of Syracuse is soliciting proposals for architectural and contractor services necessary to fix exterior code violations of blighted residential properties.
The request for qualifications (RFQ) opened June 28 and will close on Aug 15 at 2:30 p.m., the office of Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh said this week.
The RFQ is the next step in moving forward with the city’s blight-busting program administered by the city’s Department of Neighborhood and Business Development (NBD) as a “tool to address chronic problem” properties and enforce the city’s property-management code.
Syracuse is seeking architects to plan and design corrections to exterior code violations and contractors to complete the work. The blight-busting program allows the city to correct exterior code violations at non-compliant properties and bill the owner for the cost of the repairs.
The City of Syracuse is “committed to contracting with diverse and local businesses,” Walsh’s office noted.
