Clarkson University to host inaugural technology showcase and competition Tuesday at Turning Stone

VERONA, N.Y. — Clarkson University will host its inaugural technology showcase and competition on Tuesday afternoon from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona.

The event seeks to “showcase the outstanding innovations being created by Clarkson faculty and alumni to a broader audience,” per a university news release.

The Clarkson event will immediately follow the FuzeHub Commercialization Competition at Turning Stone, which is part of the New York State Innovation Summit.

The technology showcase and competition will include 11 teams presenting projects that have collectively raised more than $9.5 million in funding to date. The 11 companies — comprised of seven faculty teams and four teams of recent alumni — hold 14 patents on the various technologies that will be presented. The products cover industries that include renewable energy, sustainable construction materials, air and water quality, medical devices, personal protective equipment, and performance nutrition.

“This event is a major opportunity for companies created at Clarkson to display their innovative products and designs to a wider, more diverse audience,” Ashley Sweeney, associate director of Clarkson’s Shipley Center for Innovation, said. “Holding this event at a centrally located venue like Turning Stone allows these projects to be introduced to an expanded group of potential consumers, investors, or future stakeholders.”

Faculty and alumni pitches will take place from 4-6 p.m., followed by a networking session from 6-7 p.m. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m.
