SYRACUSE — Chris Geiger, the president and general manager of the Syracuse television stations branded as CNY Central, is leaving the company to take a position in Hartford, Conn.
CNY Central includes WSTM-TV, Syracuse’s NBC affiliate; WTVH-TV, a CBS affiliate; and WSTQ-TV, an affiliate of the CW Network.
Geiger has accepted a new position with Tribune Broadcasting at its stations in Hartford, according to a brief article on CNYCentral.com.
Geiger will take over as vice president and general manager of Tribune’s WTIC-TV and WCCT-TV, Hartford’s Fox and CW affiliates, respectively, according to an article on the website mediabistro.com. Tribune Broadcasting is a subsidiary of the Chicago–based Tribune Company.
CNY Central also includes CNY Central Digital, a 24-hour news and weather station, and the website CNYcentral.com, according to Geiger’s LinkedIn page.
Norfolk, Va.–based Sinclair Communications, LLC owns WSTM and WSTQ; New York City–based Granite Broadcasting owns WTVH-TV.
Geiger has worked for Sinclair (previously Barrington Broadcasting Co., LLC) since March 1998, according to his LinkedIn page.
He also previously served as a general sales manager for the company.
