MARCY, N.Y. — Seven locations, including ones in Oneida, Broome, and Onondaga counties, will share $39.6 million in funding from the Focused Attraction of Shovel-Ready Tracts New York (FAST NY) program to prepare shovel-ready sites for development.

Gov. Kathy Hochul appeared at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Marcy to announce the funding.

Mohawk Valley EDGE receives $14 million in funding to do further site work to prepare the remaining 127 acres at its Marcy NanoCenter. The 434-acre NanoCenter is already home to semiconductor company Wolfspeed, and another parcel is reserved to build a semiconductor supply-chain campus.

EDGE will undertake an $18 million project to prep the remaining acres in hopes of attracting additional semiconductor businesses, EDGE President Steve DiMeo said during the event. “That site can support two more fabs,” he noted.

“We believe that this will plant the seeds for a semiconductor supply-chain campus, literally right here,” Hochul said of the Marcy site. “I think this is the immediate opportunity, just a few hundred yards from where we’re standing. It means that the excavation, the moving of the earth, the infrastructure, it doesn’t have to wait any longer.”

The Agency in Broome County receives $500,000 for its $1 million project to create a new 300-acre sustainability-focused corporate park designed to attract advanced electronics and semiconductor manufacturers, test packing and related supply-chain companies, life sciences, and agricultural processing. There is the potential to acquire an additional 300 acres.

The Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency receives $325,000 for a $650,000 project to facilitate the creation of a supply-chain campus at the 104-acre Caughdenoy Industrial Park to attract Tier I supply-chain companies such as warehouses, manufacturing plants, and research and development centers to support Micron.

FAST NY funding through Empire State Development awards grants for pre-development activities and infrastructure investments to develop sites to attract eligible industries including high-tech manufacturing, clean-tech renewable energy, life sciences, agribusiness, optics, transportation equipment, materials processing, industrial machinery manufacturing, and other advanced manufacturing. The sites can also be used for interstate distribution and logistics.
