“Research shows older adults who participate in senior programs can learn to manage and delay the onset of chronic disease and experience measurable improvements in physical, social, emotional, mental, and economic well-being,” Community Foundation President/CEO Alicia Dicks said in a press release. “Supporting non-profit partners dedicated to meeting senior needs is an important part of the broader commitment to realize our vision, a vibrant region with opportunity for all.”

The programs and services supported in this grant round address older-adult health, wellness, recreation, socialization, and education. They also promote healthy lifestyles and access to community resources.

The Community Foundation says it has invested more than $124 million in Oneida and Herkimer counties since 1952. It partners with various local organizations to provide grant funding in core areas of need including economic development, education, health, arts, and culture.
