Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties names director of giving strategies

UTICA, N.Y. — The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties announced it has hired Nick Grimmer as its director of giving strategies.

Grimmer will lead the Community Foundation’s efforts to grow its portfolio of philanthropic contributors. He will also oversee engagement with a growing number of charitable partners in supporting the Lead-Free MV initiative. Lead-Free MV is the first of the Community Foundation’s “impact investments which seek to address long-standing community challenges by leveraging resources with like-minded partners for maximum impact,” it said in a news release.

Grimmer brings more than a decade of experience in fundraising and major gifts solicitation to the Foundation. He previously served as assistant VP of alumni relations and development at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, executive director of the SUNY Poly Foundation, and director of the SUNY Poly Alumni Association. 

Grimmer earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from SUNY Poly. 

The Community Foundation says that since 1952, it has invested more than $55 million in Oneida and Herkimer counties. It partners with various local organizations to allocated funding to economic development, education, health, and arts and culture.
