Community Memorial Foundation to use fundraising proceeds to furnish expanded Hamilton Family Health Center

HAMILTON, N.Y. — Community Memorial Foundation in Hamilton plans to use the proceeds from its annual fundraising campaign to help pay for furniture at the Hamilton Family Health Center.

The funds raised in the campaign will offset the costs associated with furnishing the exam rooms and waiting area at the facility, which is currently in the middle of a renovation and expansion project.

The foundation describes it as the “major project” that the 2018 fundraising effort will support, Community Memorial said in a news release.

The 5,000-square-foot expansion and renovation project seeks to increase primary-care services and “broadens specialty offerings that keep health care local,” per the release.

The work on the facility is projected to finish in the spring. The project started back in October.

It is one of five family health centers through which Community Memorial Hospital offers services.

The annual fundraising campaign generated close to $77,000, which the organization describes as “record-breaking.” The foundation’s annual fund campaign runs each year between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31. It supports the operational and special-project needs for Community Memorial Hospital and its five family health centers.

“Since the inception of the foundation in 2001, this is the largest annual campaign, we are so grateful for the hundreds of donors who believed in our mission of providing quality care for our community,” Susie Gustafson, chair of the annual campaign, said. Gustafson, a member of the Community Memorial Foundation board of directors, had announced the fundraising figure on Jan. 9.

“The health-care environment is constantly changing, especially for the rural communities we serve in Madison County, the eastern sections of Onondaga County and parts of Chenango and Oneida Counties. Annual support such as this enables us to continue our commitment to meeting our patients’ needs by providing the most innovative and clinically proven approaches for the best outcomes,” Sean Fadale, president and CEO of Community Memorial Hospital, said in the release.
