OSWEGO, N.Y. — ConnextCare says its now offering dental services at the school-based health center (SBHC) at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School in Oswego.

Holly Steffen, a registered dental hygienist at ConnextCare, started providing the service on May 8, according to May 10 announcement from the organization.

The plans for the dental program were first announced earlier this year, and students will now have access to these services. They include routine cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, and comprehensive oralhealth education.

This health center will bring dental services to both the Frederick Leighton school and well as the adjacent Oswego High School, ConnextCare said.

The ConnextCare team has been anxiously waiting to offer dental services to the students at the Frederick Leighton and Oswego High Schools and I am thrilled that the site is now fully operational. Holly has extensive experience as a Dental Hygienist and is truly dedicated to improving the oral health of the students within these schools TriciaPeter-Clark, president and CEO of ConnextCare, said in the announcement. We would like to thank Dr. Kilmer and the Oswego City School District Board of Education for their ongoing commitment to expanding these essential services into the district. Without their support none of this would have been possible.

ConnextCare is partnering with the district to establish a comprehensive, school-based health center program, with plans to offer primary care and mental health later thisyear.

The school-based health center marks ConnextCares 16th site across Oswego County. It also represents the sixth school district within the county in which ConnextCare offers SBHC services.
