Cortland Surgical Center announces surgery numbers, equipment purchase

CORTLAND — The Cortland Surgical Center, an independent surgical center started in 2015, announced that it has already completed more than 1,000 surgeries.

The center is located at 64 Pomeroy St. in Cortland and specializes in medical and surgical treatment of disorders related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck.

Manoj Kumar, M.D., the primary surgeon at the Cortland Surgical Center, founded CNY Medical Professionals in 2006 under the name Cortland ENT. As the practice expanded, it added the Surgical Center facility to the second floor to provide “comprehensive medical and surgical services to patients in Cortland, Tompkins, Chenango, and Broome counties,” according to a news release.

The Cortland Surgical Center also announced it has recently acquired a “state-of-the-art” Image Guidance System from Medtronics — investing more than $170,000 in the system.

Kumar completed a clinical fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center in Ohio and a clinical fellowship in sleep surgery at the Medical College of Georgia in Atlanta. He also trained extensively in the United Kingdom. Kumar has dedicated his career to snoring and sleep apnea surgeries, minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgeries, and endoscopic sinus surgeries, according to the release.
