County health officials warn of possible virus exposure at two area stores

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Onondaga County Health Department is warning customers about possible coronavirus exposure on recent days at the Cricket Wireless store in the Empire Plaza at 3150 Erie Boulevard East in DeWitt and at the Price Chopper location at 2515 Erie Boulevard East in Syracuse.

The health department said an employee at Cricket Wireless in DeWitt and a shopper at Price Chopper on Erie Boulevard in Syracuse have tested positive for COVID-19.

Members of the public who visited these stores on the following days and times may have been exposed.

Cricket Wireless, Empire Plaza, 3150 Erie Boulevard East in DeWitt

• Wednesday, April 22 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
• Thursday, April 23 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Price Chopper, 2515 Erie Boulevard East in Syracuse

• Saturday, April 25 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.

Both individuals were wearing a face mask, and both stores are adhering to CDC guidelines to protect the health of their customers.

Health department investigators are in the process of identifying all close contacts of the individuals and notifying them. Anyone who visited these locations during the identified time periods should monitor themselves for symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough, and/or difficulty breathing for 14 days after visiting the store.

If symptoms do develop, stay home and call your doctor for further guidance about testing. If you are elderly, have underlying medical conditions, or are immunocompromised, call your doctor early, even if your illness is mild, the health department said.
