Crouse Foundation raises $500,000 at its 40th annual Tribute Evening

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Crouse Health Foundation announced it raised $500,000 in net proceeds for Crouse Hospital’s programs and services from its recent 40th annual Tribute Evening.

The foundation sold more than 1,200 tickets for the Sept. 23 event held at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at Oncenter in Syracuse.

The ticket sales and the proceeds were “records” for the Tribute Evening event, Crouse said in a news release.

The organization will use the proceeds from Tribute Evening 2016 to support the work of the Crouse Health Foundation, including purchasing special equipment, underwriting new initiatives, and funding educational programs and scholarships.

Crouse also used the event to honor Bob and Diane Miron, who were recognized “for their community leadership and passionate commitment to Crouse and the greater Syracuse area.”

Bob and Diane Miron have been “very supportive” of Crouse Hospital, making “significant” gifts to the Miron Cardiac Care Center and other departments within the institution, the hospital said.

Bob Miron, retired chairman of Advance/Newhouse Communications, is considered a cable-television “pioneer,” according to the Crouse release. Miron continues to serve as non-executive chairman of Discovery Channel.

He is a 1959 graduate of Syracuse University and currently serves as a life trustee for the school’s board of trustees, having completed his term as vice chairman, Crouse said.

Miron also serves on the Crouse Hospital board of directors as an executive-committee member and chairs the board’s quality committee.
