Crouse Hospital announces ‘significant’ naming gift to benefit the cardiac-care center

SYRACUSE — Crouse Hospital in Syracuse today announced it will name its Cardiac Care Center in honor Diane and Bob Miron, who made a “significant” donation to the Crouse Health Foundation.

Crouse didn’t disclose the amount of the Mirons’ gift in its news release.

The Mirons’ relationship with the hospital started when Bob Miron began having heart problems in 2002, according to Crouse.

“Each time I needed access to cardiac services at Crouse, we’ve been continually impressed with not just the treatment provided, but also with the teamwork and skill of the physicians, nurses, technicians and staff,” Bob Miron said in the Crouse release. “Diane and I decided to make this gift to Crouse so the lives of others may be saved and improved through the amazing work of this cardiac team.”

The Mirons are long-time residents of Central New York.

Diane Miron is a retired school teacher, having taught in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District.

Bob Miron, a current member of the Crouse Hospital board of directors, retired in 2010 after a 50-year career in broadcasting, with 44 of those years spent in the cable industry.

He had served as chairman and CEO of Advance/Newhouse Communications and its predecessor companies, according to Crouse.

Bob Miron is also a board member of the Silver Spring, Md.–based Discovery Communications, Inc., the parent of cable-television channels such as Discovery Channel and TLC, the hospital said in its news release.

Miron was inducted as a member of the Cable Television Hall of Fame in 2001, and inducted the following year into the Hall of Fame of the trade publication Broadcasting & Cable, Crouse added.
