Crouse Hospital board of directors appoints SU Chancellor to three-year term

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Crouse Hospital board of directors has appointed Syracuse University (SU) Chancellor Kent Syverud to serve a three-year term.

Patrick Mannion, chair of the hospital’s board of directors, made the announcement in a news release Crouse Hospital distributed on Tuesday.

Syverud became SU’s 12th chancellor in January.

“As we continue to position Crouse for the future, we are pleased and honored to be strengthening our board with the addition Chancellor Syverud, who in his short time in Syracuse has demonstrated solid leadership and a real interest in affairs both on the University Hill and in the community,” Mannion said in the release.

A native of Irondequoit, near Rochester, Syverud previously served as a dean and professor at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to that, he served eight years as dean of the Vanderbilt Law School, according to the Crouse news release.
