SALINA — C&S Cos. sold its crane and rigging business to a Tennessee firm with 25 locations around the country.
C&S announced the sale of C&S Crane & Rigging, Inc. on Monday. Barnhart Crane & Rigging of Memphis, Tenn. acquired the business.
C&S Crane & Rigging has been serving industrial, commercial, and public sector customers through upstate New York since 2008 with 15-ton to 200-ton cranes and rigging equipment. Barnhart, founded in 1969, serves the power generation, petrochemical, and renewable energy industries, according to C&S.

Barnhart hired all C&S Crane & Rigging employees and will continue to operate the business from its existing location on Fly Road in East Syracuse.
“This sale is evidence of the improving private economy in Central New York and will allow C&S to focus on its other construction-related offerings: self-perform construction, construction management at risk, and program/construction management,” C&S Cos. President and CEO Ron Peckham said in a news release.
C&S, based in Salina, has locations throughout the country and provides services including engineering, construction, software, and architecture.
