CXtec to pay $2 million in settlement with government

SALINA — CXtec will pay $2 million to settle claims it supplied government customers with products made in China.

The Department of Justice said the company had supplied customers with Chinese-made networking cable and transceivers in violation of contracting regulations. The settlement won’t affect any jobs at CXtec and the company will continue as a government supplier.

The company also said it believes it complied with its obligations under contracting rules and that customers weren’t harmed by the products it provided. The firm said it decided to settle to avoid litigation time and expense.

CXtec created a new compliance officer position to ensure the company follows government regulations and contract requirements. The company announced the settlement Monday.

CXtec, headquartered in Salina, sells new and used data networking and voice equipment and its own line of cabling. The firm has about 230 employees.
