Dannible & McKee completes Public Company Accounting Oversight Board inspection

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) recently completed its triennial inspection of the Syracuse–based accounting firm Dannible & McKee, LLP.

The inspection didn’t identify any deficiencies and indicated that the firm’s auditing processes and quality controls are “effective” in rendering professional-assurance services to clients, Dannible & McKee said in a news release distributed Wednesday.

The Washington, D.C.–based PCAOB is a nonprofit corporation that Congress established to oversee the audits of public companies in order to protect investors and the public interest by promoting informative, accurate, and independent audit reports, according to the PCAOB’s website.

The effort represents the fourth time the PCAOB has inspected Dannible & McKee’s operations, the local firm said.

Dannible & McKee, LLP is “one of the only firms in Central New York, other than national firms,” that is registered with the PCAOB to perform work for publicly traded companies, according to its news release.

The PCAOB inspects registered public-accounting firms to assess compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the rules of the board, the rules of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and professional standards, in connection with the firm’s performance of audits, issuance of audit reports, and related matters involving publicly traded U.S. companies, other issuers, and brokers and dealers, Dannible & McKee said.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 is a federal law that seeks to protect investors from fraudulent accounting activities by corporations.

Dannible & McKee, LLP provides services in the areas of audit, taxation, strategic planning, business valuation, litigation support, and fraud prevention and detection since 1978, the firm said.
