Davidson Auto breaks ground on Ford dealership in Clay

CLAY, N.Y. — Davidson Automotive Group recently broke ground on a new Ford dealership on Route 31 in the town of Clay, the company announced. It is expected to open in the spring of 2016.

Davidson Automotive Group’s current Ford franchise in Fulton, the former Fred Raynor Ford, will move to the upcoming Clay site once it is complete. The Clay car dealership will be accompanied by a standalone collision-repair center and a five-bay, automatic car wash, Davidson said in a news release.

The cost and other financial details of the project were not disclosed.

“We are thrilled to expand with these three new ventures in Clay … . This will allow us to service a broader demographic area, providing one of the largest selections of vehicles.” Dwight Davidson, a family partner of Davidson Auto Group, said in the release.

The ventures will be situated near Moyers Corners, the intersection of Route 31 and Route 57.

Watertown–based Davidson Automotive Group operates dealerships in Rome, Watertown, and Fulton, selling Chevrolet, Ford, Nissan, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC makes, as well as pre-owned vehicles, according to the release.
