Davis College seeks new president after naming Pedrone its first chancellor

JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. — Davis College has chosen President Dino Pedrone to be its first chancellor.

Pedrone, 72, president of the 117-year-old college since 2008, will continue to travel on behalf of the school as well as preach and teach at conferences and churches, the college said in a news release. He will start in the new role Jan. 15.

Davis College has begun a search for a new president and appointed George Snyder interim president. He has worked in teaching and administrative roles at the college since 1997 and is currently VP of academic affairs and strategic planning, and professor of Bible.

“On behalf of the board of trustees, we are thrilled that Dr. Pedrone will remain with the college during the transition time to advise current leadership,” Mike Sanders, co-chair of the board, said in the release. “We look forward to great days ahead for the college.”

Robbie Smolinsky, the college’s director of marketing, tells BJNN that Pedrone will act as a good-will ambassador for Davis College, stepping away from day-to-day operations. He adds that while Padrone will be available to advise the new president, there will not be a reporting relationship between the two

Davis College offers one-year certificate programs in the Bible and in teaching English as a second language, as well as an associate degree, a three-year diploma in Bible and theology, and a bachelor of religious education degree. The college has an enrollment of 335 matriculating and non-matriculating students.

Founded in 1900, the college was formerly known as Practical Bible Training School and later Practical Bible College. It became Davis College in 2004.
